Call centre opens around the clock
BANGKOK, 4 April 2012: Ministry of Tourism and Sports’ Department of Tourism set up a 24-hour call centre, 3 April, to serve tourists.
One of the key objectives is to give tourists a place to register complaints and allegations regarding cheating. The main offenders are tour companies and tour guides.
In Phuket, the scope of complaints also includes jet ski operators who threaten tourists if they object to paying for damage incurred during the rental period, despite the island’s insurance scheme.
The department general director, Supol Sripan, said the call centre will allow tourists to register complaints around the clock rather than just during the ministry’s office hours.
“The call centre number is 02 401 1111.”
The tourism department director believes opening the call centre will add value and assist visitors during the upcoming Songkran holidays that starts late next week.
The call centre is a joint project by the Department of Tourism and CAT Telecom Public Company Limited.
Besides the call centre, tourists can file a complaint via email to DOTcallcenter@tourism.go.th .
