Koh Lanta Thailand everything you need to know

Koh Lanta consists of 52 islands including the largest, Koh Lanta Yai. It’s located approximately 70 kilometres south of Krabi Town.

Koh Lanta’s scenic beauty may not quite compete with some other areas in the province. However, if you’re looking for complete peace and quiet away from the bustling tourist areas, with a few home comforts, head there!

Koh Lanta Yai preserves its community spirit in both family and business life. With clear, cool waters and superb white sand beaches stretching along a 27 kilometer coastline, its paradisiacal appeal remains unmarred by mass tourism.

The island itself runs 30 kms from North to South, with theko lanta beaches West coast established as the main tourist area with totally 9 beaches, offering accommodation for all budgets, a variety of activities, and an attractive choice of bars and restaurants.

Excellent swimming conditions and a fabulous stretch of white sand surrounded by the mountains of Ko Lanta’s national park make this small beach very impressive. If scuba diving is not suit for you, This Ko Lanta offers a range of daytrips that visit stunning remote islands with spectacular shallow coral reefs.

Ko Lanta is a diver’s paradise for beginners and the experienced. There are very few places on the planet where divers can enjoy and underwater world so rich and diverse. And imagine learning to dive in water that’s the same temperature as your bath water at home.

Eco-tourist-friendly, Tung Yee Peng is the best Mangrove forest located on the eastern coast of Ko Lanta. Tung Yee Peng is a project operated by UNDP (United Nations Development Program)

Most resorts are family-run, and built with basic, natural materials such as hard woods and bamboos. Some offer full facilities with pool & Jacuzzi, internet, satellite TV and tub with hot shower. There are a few four or five star resorts offering Spa treatments and various luxuries.

Ko Lanta can access from Krabi, Trang or Phuket either by public ferry or van. There are only a few trips a day.
